During his investiture, Archbishop Bob Duncan made the astonishing, prophetic call for 1000 new works during his ministry. A few months later, a team of leaders gathered in Plano to dream about a cooperative movement to plant churches and answer this call.

What began as a visionary challenge during Archbishop Bob Duncan’s installation sermon has become one of the primary ministries of the Anglican Church in North America. Canon David Roseberry, along with The Rev. Daniel Adkinson and other key leaders helped to establish and grow Anglican 1000 into a collaborative effort by rectors, bishops, dioceses, networks and others who are embracing the call to plant churches.

In June 2012, The Rev. Canon Alan Hawkins took over the role of Vicar of Anglican 1000 to lead the movement into its next phase. Canon Hawkins has reorganized and refocused A1K for its next season of ministry, which he describes as “Encouraging, Equipping, and Catalyzing” church planting throughout North America. As you look around the site you will see many new initiatives and endeavors that will be beginning in 2013 to support this focus and to pursue the goal of planting 1000 new churches.
